{"id":6600,"date":"2023-06-27T11:29:57","date_gmt":"2023-06-27T10:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ccgnewry.org\/?p=6600"},"modified":"2023-06-27T11:30:01","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T10:30:01","slug":"public-consultation-on-the-provision-of-free-period-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ccgnewry.org\/?p=6600","title":{"rendered":"Public Consultation on the Provision of Free Period Products"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><u>The Executive Office (TEO) Public Consultation on the Provision of Free Period Products<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>The Executive Office (TEO) has just launched a 12-week public consultation into the provision of free period products:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/consultations.nidirect.gov.uk\/teo\/provision-of-free-period-products-consultation\/\">Provision of Free Period Products : Public Consultation &#8211; NI Direct &#8211; Citizen Space<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Period inequality contributes to the poor mental health and wellbeing experience of those who are unable to access the basic health essentials of period products. This is a growing issue particularly in light of the increased cost of living.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Period products are essential items for personal care to address a normal biological need and should therefore be available to everyone who needs them, regardless of their economic status.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To address this need the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/nia\/2022\/25\/enacted\">Period Products (Free Provision) Act (NI) 2022<\/a> was made by the Northern Ireland Assembly. The Act requires that period products will be made available from May 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Public Consultation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Executive Office now wants to hear from you regarding <strong>what<\/strong> period products should be made available, <strong>where<\/strong> these should be available and <strong>how<\/strong> people can access these. The questionnaire should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The consultation will run for <strong>12 weeks<\/strong> from <strong>Monday 26 June 2023 \u2013 Monday 18 September 2023.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How you can help<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Executive Office wants to hear the views of as many people as possible and would welcome your assistance in raising awareness of this consultation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To help we have attached links below to the press release, the consultation page, TEO\u2019s twitter and TEO\u2019s facebook coverage.
