Good Morning Call Service

The Good Morning Call Service is a free and confidential telephone support service designed to promote well-being and reduce isolation among older people and older carers aged sixty and over. It is available in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area and the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council area.

Key Features of the Service:

1. Daily Check-in Calls

Our dedicated team of volunteers make scheduled phone calls to individuals, typically in the morning, to ensure they are safe and well. The calls can be tailored to suit the needs of the individual and are meant to provide reassurance and a friendly voice to keep them connected and provide social contact.

2. Support for Vulnerable Individuals

This service is aimed at older people and older carers, those living alone, or individuals with health conditions who may benefit from regular social contact. It is particularly beneficial for people who feel isolated or vulnerable.

3. Emergency Alerts

If a recipient does not answer the call and cannot be contacted, the service will Contact a pre-designated emergency contact which can be a family member, neighbour etc or relevant support services to ensure their safety and give peace of mind to their family

4. Referrals to Other Services

The team can provide information or refer individuals to additional community, health, or social services if needed.

How to Access the Service:

• Referrals can be made by individuals themselves, family members, carers, or health and social care professionals.

• Registration is straightforward and involves providing basic contact information and emergency details.

This initiative enhances community well-being, reduces loneliness, and offers peace of mind to both service users and their loved ones. It reflects our commitment in the Newry, Mourne, and Down area and the Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon areas to support older people and older carers.

What it is?

Good Morning is a confidential telephone service for people who are feeling isolated and lonely. It is for anyone living in Newry and Mourne and the Armagh, Banbridge Craigavon council Areas The service is run by CCG Newry and is funded by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust 

Why it is needed?

Often a Good Morning call can be the only voice one of users will hear all day. The Good Morning Service helps people feel connected, signposts them to services, and raises people’s mood and sense of well-being. 97% of our users rate our service as ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’ 

How does it work?

We have a fantastic of volunteers who take an hour out of their week to make calls using our easy to use MyCallMatters platform. Users choose their schedule, time, and the volunteers check in with them to see how their day is going. We can also help with onward referrals to other support services, and pass on health and well-being messages.
